2026 Year of the Fire Horse

The University of Alabama Chinese program website says that the Chinese calendar is based on the "lunar and solar elements and is called the 'agricultural calendar'". "The Chinese created a lunar calendar based on the cycles of the moon to help them know when to plant, harvest, and celebrate" according to the University of Chicago Cultural Astronomy website. This year the Lunar Chinese New Year starts with the New Moon on the 27th of January.

Parade describes the attributes of the Year of the Fire House where the “Fire Horse energy amplifies the Horse’s natural independence and restlessness, creating a powerful drive for freedom, self-expression, and breaking away from limitations,” explains Janine Lowe, a Chinese astrology expert and author of Feng Shui Your Way to Abundance. “Historically and socially, Fire Horse years often coincide with upheaval, cultural shifts, and bold collective movements, where people feel compelled to challenge authority, redefine identity, and push for radical change.”
